As technological advances increase, the human population has become increasingly susceptible to toxins in the environment. It is hard to think about the effects of what everyday items can have on us, nor does it cross our minds that products we use day to day could harm our health. Luckily for Alaskans, we have the non-profit organization called Alaska Community Action on Toxics (ACAT), which was established in 1997 by leading researcher Pamela Miller. ACAT is an environmental health research and advocacy organization based in Anchorage, who have successfully pushed for reforms in toxic prevention across the nation.
