8. An ability to communicate effectively.
Communication
I have learned throughout my college career that communication is so important. Communication with my professors and classmates has saved me many hours of work that would have been spent completing tasks that were unnecessary. Consulting other individuals and their knowledge can really help complete projects thoroughly and efficiently.
Communication was especially crucial in the completion of our senior design project. In order for all technical teams, the project, and the client to work fluidly, conversing with each other effectively was essential.
When it comes down to it, communication is more essential than technical skills. You can be the best engineer in the world, but if you can't convey your ideas or designs to your client, your ideas are useless.
