Maritime Security Center (MSC) Summer 2017
Hoboken, NJ Student Researcher
Conducted research on the applications of underwater acoustics in detecting and localizing changes in Arctic ice cover.
Collaborated with a multidisciplinary team of undergraduate and graduate-level students to perform experiments and prepare reports on research findings and outcomes.
Provided weekly oral status updates and presentations for MSC researchers and visiting Homeland Security practitioners.
- Participated in field-visits to DHS operational facilities and engaged in discussions regarding technology gaps and needs with homeland security professionals.
Prepared a technical paper and presentation for submission to MSC and DHS Office of University Programs.
Arctic Domain Awareness Center (ADAC) Feb 2016 - Dec 2017
Anchorage, AK Research Assistant & CDG Fellow
- Actively participated in and prepared materials for professional DHS conferences and workshops aimed at addressing and developing ideas to decrease response time and reduce risk in the Arctic regarding maritime travel.
- Interacted with United States Coast Guard (USCG) operators, research experts in fields of science and technology, and other DHS members and officials regarding technological gaps and needs within the USCG enterprise.
- Developed literary reviews and research on published journals and use expertise to provide insight and notions of innovation for the department.
