Read chapter 3 from your textbook, plus the "Boolean" section on pages 21-23. We recommended that you do any activities or thought exercises in your reading to help you grasp the challenging concepts presented.

When you get to page 40, come back and read the following (it won't make sense until then):

On page 40, they have outlined a complex search in their worksheet but they don't show you what it would look like written out as a search string. It's important that you see this, so here it is:

(wom*n OR female* OR mother* OR "Berthe Morisot" OR "Mary Cassatt") AND (painter* OR artist*) AND Impressionis* AND subject*

Note that we will not address "internal truncation" or wildcard in the unit quiz (what's happening with wom*n in the above example), though it is very helpful to know about.
