                          Nancy McCoy-Wozniak Professional Capsule

As a member of the creative UAA Academic Innovations & eLearning team, I work on master online course development and the creation of culturally-responsive, interactive online learning environments.  I am the Instructional Designer for the UAA Robust Online Learning (ROLL) Grant and collaborate with the dynamic ROLL Team and faculty content experts on the design and implementation of General Education Requirement (GER) master online courses with interactive, multimodal learning media and experiences that enhance student engagement and online community.   Currently, I am researching and constructing culturally responsive course activities and student-led learning deliveries that promote self-determined behaviors and lifelong learning habits of mind for ALL.  I, also, am responsible for the ROLL website and social media outreach (UAA Robust Online Learning on Facebook).

With over 15 years as an Instructional Designer and Learning Architect, I, also, am an experienced instructor of Media Literacy, Leadership, and Communications, specializing in High Impact First Year Experience.  Using my prior experiences in broadcast and cable television production, I energetically practice the use of multimodal learning strategies with technologies to enhance student engagement and integrative learning. My design emphasis is to map and connect critical, creative, and design thinking activities with the inquiry process and evidenced-based reflection.  Particularly with the STEM disciplines, I specialize in flipped and hybrid classroom designs that utilize experiential spaces (makerspaces) concepts and the gamification of content delivery.  This format includes digital makerspaces to enhance design thinking in hybrid and online courses.  I brainstorm with faculty on the use of multimodal composition activities enhanced by social media and cloud technologies to further improve writing and evidenced-based reflective skills across the disciplines in face-to-face, hybrid, and online courses.  

As an adjunct faculty member at Cuyahoga Community College, Myers University, Dutchess Community College, and Stony Brook University, I have taught face-to-face, hybrid, and online courses in web design, introduction to computers and the Internet, social media, media literacy, introduction to business applications, and communication and emerging technologies.  

I have served as a Visiting Fellow on Assuring Graduate Competencies at Deakin University, Melbourne, Australia.  I, also, participated as a Visiting Scholar at Thompson Rivers University, Kamloops, Canada with the development of co-curricular, high-impact learning activities and the assessment of competencies using credentialed badges and digital portfolios.  I managed the world-recognized ePortfolio Initiative at Stony Brook University and devised the SBU Student-Driven Implementation Model.  The research and mapping of emerging technologies and shifts in the paradigms of learning are critical, and I continue  to accomplish this with faculty and student idea-generating teams.
