Osama Abaza is a Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA). He worked in the academic circles and industry for the last 33 years in the field 

of civil/transportation engineering as it relates to traffic and traffic safety, pavement structures, pavement management, and highway engineering and materials. His current research focuses on cold region transportation and traffic safety issues like the use of steel fiber-reinforced rubberized concrete for roadway/intersection rutting mitigation, calibration of National Highway Safety Manual for cold regions applications, frequency and potential severity of red light running, accident reduction factors relating to moose-vehicle collision, etc.

 

He is a member of Institute of Traffic Engineers, ASCE, IEEE, ACI and other national and international professional organizations.
