Summer Hospitality Assistant

In this position, I performed the following duties for the Conference Services Department at the University of Alaska Anchorage: 

 

  • Operate telephone switchboard to answer, screen, or forward calls, providing information, taking messages, and scheduling appointments.

  • Operate photocopiers and scanners, fax machines, voice mail systems, and computers.

  • Greet persons entering establishment, determine nature and purpose of visit, and direct or escort them to specific destinations.

  • Perform administrative support tasks, such as proofreading, editing, and transcribing handwritten information.

  • File and maintain student housing records.

  • Provide information about establishment, such as location of departments or offices, names of employees within the organization, or services provided.

  • Receive payment and record receipts for services.

  • Schedule appointments and maintain and update appointment calendars.

  • Keep a current record of staff members' whereabouts and availability.

  • Maintain a neat and professional-looking reception area.

  • Conduct tours or deliver talks describing features of public facilities.

  • Calculate and quote rates for rooms.

  • Provide assistance and support to supervisors whenever necessary.

  • Create fliers/posters advertising different department events and important information.

  • Review and critique department correspondence for appropriateness of tone and content.
