In this position, I performed the following duties for the Housing Department at the University of Alaska Anchorage:
Operate telephone switchboard to answer, screen, or forward calls, providing information, taking messages, and scheduling appointments.
Operate photocopiers and scanners, fax machines, voice mail systems, and computers.
Greet persons entering establishment, determine nature and purpose of visit, and direct or escort them to specific destinations.
Perform administrative support tasks, such as proofreading, editing, and transcribing handwritten information.
File and maintain student housing records.
Provide information about establishment, such as location of departments or offices, names of employees within the organization, or services provided.
Receive payment and record receipts for services.
Schedule appointments and maintain and update appointment calendars.
Keep a current record of staff members' whereabouts and availability.
Maintain a neat and professional-looking reception area.
Conduct tours or deliver talks describing features of public facilities.
Calculate and quote rates for rooms.
Provide assistance and support to supervisors whenever necessary.
Create fliers/posters advertising different department events and important information.
- Review and critique department correspondence for appropriateness of tone and content.
