Women of Science and Technology Research Day 2016 

 

Join women professionals working in STEM careers for a day of workshops and fun. Sign up for the Brown Bag Bonus Session where girls will  participate in a live video activity with NASA Education Outreach Coordinator, Sarah McCrea! This event is open to ALL girls, regardless of Girl Scout membership.

STEM night Susitna Elementary

 

Staff at Susitna Elementary school are looking for scientists to participate at the Science, Technology, Education and Math (STEM) night at on Thursday, March 10th from 6:00 pm – 7:30.  You would be at a table and interact with the students on an activity of your choice (either you design it, or you run one that they design). It's a big event - lots of parents and students. They have about 465 students.

Kids 2 College

The Alaska Commission on Postsecondary Education is seeking 39 volunteers to participate in a career panel for the  Kids2College program – a partnership activity with the University of Alaska College Savings Plan. Would you or someone you know be interested in and available to help to inspire young Alaskans with college and career stories?

 

Volunteers will be given the opportunity to talk with 5th & 6th grade students about their own educational and career experiences as part of a 3-person career panel. Each volunteer will be provided with guiding questions and tips (attached) and asked to speak for 5-10 minutes to the class, then be available for Q&A at the end of the panel. The dates and schools are listed below. Total time commitment is 1 hour. Volunteers will not be responsible for speaking during the entire block of time.
